Attic Ridge Vents

Attic ventilation is extremely important especially during the hot summer months. Your attic temperature rises dramatically and moving the air minimizes the temperature increase, thereby lowering your air conditioning requirements and resulting in a lower electric bill.
Excessive heat in attics can also cause composition shingles to get overly hot causing them to have a shorter lifespan. In the winter, moving air helps prevent mold and mildew growth by removing attic humidity.
The best ventilation system is one with no moving parts or motors that use precious energy. The ridge and soffit vent system is one of the best systems you can install because it has no moving parts. This system employs the natural rise of hot air to generate airflow in the same manner as a chimney does. Cooler air enters the attic through the soffit vents in the eaves. This air is heated in the attic and rises and exits through the ridge vents at the highest point of the attic.
During the hottest months of the summer, your attic temperatures can reach as much as 150 degrees or more depending on the state in which you live. The air conditioning duct system is transferring the cool air from the coils to your interior and it only makes sense to lower the temperature in your attic. If the outside temperature is between 80 to 100 degrees, this type of system will draw much cooler air into your attic, thereby taking a load off of your A/C system.
